For complete accuracy it is important to  review the county clerk website where you, applicants, will  obtain your marriage license and read all requirements. Every county may be a have a few different guide lines.

Helpful Information

​

​

  • The couple must apply together at the clerk office for a Florida marriage license. ​

  • No out of state marriage licenses are accepted. 

  • Some clerk online offices will allow eMarriage License Application to be filled partially online to save time when the applicant goes to clerk office. however, the completion of marriage license and swearing in must be done at the clerk office where license is being obtained. 

  • Applicants must have two forms of Identifications; one must be a valid photo identification. In addition, other documentation may be needed if previous married.  It is always best to contact the clerk office to make sure you have the right documents for your marriage license to be obtained.

  • Florida has a three-day waiting period after obtaining marriage license. Out of state has no waiting period.

  • All applicants are required to read the Florida Family Law Handbook before marriage license may be obtained. The handbook is on the clerk website.

  • Florida marriage license expires 60 days of issue. 

  • Applications Fees includes preparation, administering oath, recording, and one certified copy is $86.00, or the applicants may take an approved Premarital course prior and with clerk preparation, administering oath, recording, and one certified copy would lower fee to $ 61.00.

  • Additional certified copies are $3.00 and recommended for those doing a last name change.
